Birthday Party for Grown-Up Girls

Birthdays, once you get to a certain age, are ALL milestone birthdays and if we’re smart, we find some way to celebrate ourselves. MsS was all for a funny Big Girl Birthday Session and she brought her A game. She is the master of hilarious facial expression and Prudence and I actually rolled around watching her.

She also managed to look incredibly gorgeous and I know she’ll be reminded of this birthday “party” for years to come.

Not everybody wants to “unleash” their inner sexy for our birthday or any other special occasion. That’s okay, we can document ourselves, our birthdays, our lives any way we want to, but …

Grown Up Birthday Photos Are the Best!

Document your birthday with photos to remind you just how incredible you are. That body gave birth to humans and it is SPECTACULAR.

Let’s be real, if we wait until we feel we look good enough to have our photos taken, they’ll never get done. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got all I can do to get all of my mail opened on the regular. If you’re thinking of having your photos taken, just DO it. You can wear as much (or as little as) you want and you’ll appreciate those photos on every birthday from now on.

Perceptions – Who Are You?

Perceptions are amazing. In this day and age of “politically correct” thinking and the public’s outcry of “I am NOT judgemental!” I’ve found that people in general are more judgemental and women are MOST judgemental of themselves.

This first full session with Studio Rep Emily got us talking about first impressions, other peoples’ opinions and how we judge ourselves.

On any given day other people see us as we are THAT day, whether we are dressed for work, dressed for gardening or dressed for a quick run to the gas station for a gallon of milk at six o’clock in the morning. Anyone who sees us bases an opinion on us, whether they know us or not. I tell myself that it doesn’t matter, people who know me know that I don’t always look that way, but REALLY? Somewhere inside me I think everyone is stink eyeing me. Do you do the same thing?

The saying that you never get a chance to make a first impression isn’t as true as what we’ve been lead to believe, at least in a personal way, and never judge a book by its over has never been more true. We can recreate ourselves EVERY day. We can put ourselves out to the world and tell our story a day at a time.

Perception of Glamour
When someone judges you, it isn’t about you. It’s about them and their own insecurities, limitations and needs

Dream Photography Session – What Is It?

What is a Dream Photography Session? What is you favorite fairy tale? Your favorite book? Who did you want to be when you grew up? Do you LOVE the 70’s?

A Dream Session is based on YOUR dreams and fantasies. You can be photographed as a 50’s carhop. Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair! You can be a beautiful woods nymph with evergreens and flowers in your hair.

Dream Photography Sessions

The best thing about a dream photography session is that you can be whoever you want for the day. We’ll spend a week or two before the session, gathering clothes and props and picking where you want to shoot. Your session can take place entirely in my studio or we can visit some of the local parks (Fonfarek, Hayman Falls, etc.) and do your session.

The sky really IS the limit.

Glamour Photographer – Who Am I?

Who am I? I am a glamour photographer. What I do isn’t for everybody, but it is for YOU.

It’s for the woman who has NEVER liked a photo of herself. It’s for the daughter(s) who want a forever memory of their mom.

I do it for you, who think you have to use lose ten pounds (you don’t). I do it for you, who doesn’t feel comfortable on front of the camera (oh what fun we’ll have and the photos that come out of it will be spectacular!)

I am a glamour photographer for the every day woman. Your last beautiful photos don’t have to be from your graduation or wedding day.

Modern Glamour

For a year or so, I piddled with all kinds of photography, it was only when I shot women that I truly loved my work. Mothers and daughters, sister, best friends … THOSE were the photos that stole my heart.

I tried so hard to force women to see the beauty I saw in my camera, and while I made money, I wasn’t making myself happy. The photos I shoot ARE beautiful, but because they are usually wearing little tiny outfits, my clients don’t share them with anyone but their loved ones; who already think they’re beautiful. I want my clients to dance out of my beautiful new studio and show their images to the first person they see! I want them to show those photos to my DOGS, because they are so blown away by how gorgeous they look they HAVE to show them to somebody!

On January 1st I pulled the trigger on a 12 Week course given by my photography idol, Sue Bryce. I have loved this woman for YEARS, even before I’d considered photography as anything more than a hobby. I was drawn in by the stories on her blog, then by her work and finally her voice.

I have learned more about the field of photography, and MYSELF, in the past eight weeks than I have in any class, workshop or tutorial I’ve taken in the past three years.

As a result I’ve once again restarted building my portfolio, to show the beautiful photos I can offer you. While I will NEVER stop shooting boudoir, I think ALL WOMEN should be able to show their photos to everyone, including their grandma. So I’ve graduated to Contemporary Glamour Photography.

What is Contemporary Glamour Photography?

My session with MsP was one that we’d talked about and made tentative plans for, but one day we said “NO MORE- we’re doing it!” And we did.

MsP was amazing – she is a hairdresser and a makeup artist, so I knew she’d come in hot for the session we’d decided on.

Graveyard Scene

I’ve been working on this image since November. The minute I saw MsA, and heard what she had in mind for her session, I KNEW I was going to create an image like this.

Her coloring, her beautiful face and her great figure, combined with her choice of setting were what I’ve been trying to find for the longest time.

So glad I had the opportunity and I can’t wait to work with her again.
