Outdoor Boudoir

Outdoor boudoir – is there anything more beautiful? Although Ms S looked comfortable, she is mama to four gorgeous kids and this was her first time in front of a camera. She is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Thank you, Ms S for trusting me and letting yourself to be vulnerable out there in the great wide open

Now that Mother Nature is back on her meds, I’m hoping to get some more outdoor boudoir sessions in this summer. It’s the perfect time of year. I have the perfect spots and every piece of wardrobe and shoes we’ll need. No nakey, all sexy and just for YOU.

$150 ($50 extra for hair), 15 4×6 prints, custom DVD with all chosen images and a print release. And lunch!

Wisconsin Modern Portraiture

What is modern portraiture? It’s a fancy name for personal photos that don’t look like they were taken at the mall, lol.

I’ve been missing in action, busy studying, working on the studio and taking photos. MODERN portraits. 😉

I’ve known Lisa for a couple of years, but didn’t realize how much we had in common till we got together for this session. I think we spent as much time laughing as we did taking photos.

We talked about the fact that we have so many photos of our kids, but so few photos of ourselves, unless you count the ones taken at Sears back when they were babies. We were too busy taking photos of them.

Now our kids are grown and having kids of their own. We’ve got pictures of our kids and our grandkids on the wall or on the mantle, but where are the photos of us?

Exist in Photos

We should all #existinphotos, we should all leave a moment in time for the people who love us.

This isn’t about taking it all off or glamming it all up (though it can be). It’s about looking at a photo of yourself and saying “Yes, I look great! I really DO!”

I want to create those photos for you. Come to my sweet little studio and let me show you how beautiful you are. Bring your three favorite outfits and we’ll talk and laugh and get some great shots. You don’t have to be skinny and you don’t have to “take good photos”. It’s my job to make you look great, and I WILL.

What are you waiting for? No better time than the present! Let’s get you on the calendar. Have questions? Call me at [920] 659-0614 or email beautiful@jlreisphotography.com

Fifty and Fabulous

Betsy is the epitome of fifty and fabulous. I was so happy when she agreed to have her portraits done … she’s one of those women that just don’t do things like that for themselves. Getting one of the most wonderful women I’ve ever been blessed in knowing in front of my camera last week was incredible, and we just had an absolute blast.

Thirty two years ago I met husband’s best friend’s wife and started a friendship that has carried on through the years. It’s one of those friendships that you can go months without talking and then when you do, it’s like you never stopped. She is kind and wise and about as crazy as I am. I adore her.

I did the original reveal over lunch at a local restaurant, then went to the house so her husband could choose his favorite.

Surprise of surprises, they both picked the same two favorites, independently of each other (the first two in the gallery).

I love shooting women in their forties and fifties. Many times they’ve lost a lot their inhibitions and have realized that they deserve to do something for themselves. A spa day is spectacular, but photos last forever.

Seeing Inner Beauty

When people think of “beauty photography” they think of magazines and television ads with famous models. Nope.

We’re all candidate for beauty/glamour photography.

Shooting MissP was hear-fluttering treat for me. I have known – and loved her – for decades. Unfortunately, as the years passed, we saw each other only in passing and there was always the same old “We’ll have to get together ..” and we all know how that ends. She is an incredibly loving mom and friend and I know she works hard, too. For me to be able to give her these photos meant so much to me. And in giving to her I know I’m giving to her children and grandchildren as well (yes, she has grand-kids – WTH, she doesn’t look any older than she did when I first met her – NOT FAIR!).

I was tickled to get her in front of my camera and I hoped she loved the photos as much as I do. She is so beautiful, inside and out, such a gift to those of us who know her …it means so much to me to be able to show people the beauty that everyone else sees in her.

Thank you MsP, for the opportunity.

Modern Glamour

For a year or so, I piddled with all kinds of photography, it was only when I shot women that I truly loved my work. Mothers and daughters, sister, best friends … THOSE were the photos that stole my heart.

I tried so hard to force women to see the beauty I saw in my camera, and while I made money, I wasn’t making myself happy. The photos I shoot ARE beautiful, but because they are usually wearing little tiny outfits, my clients don’t share them with anyone but their loved ones; who already think they’re beautiful. I want my clients to dance out of my beautiful new studio and show their images to the first person they see! I want them to show those photos to my DOGS, because they are so blown away by how gorgeous they look they HAVE to show them to somebody!

On January 1st I pulled the trigger on a 12 Week course given by my photography idol, Sue Bryce. I have loved this woman for YEARS, even before I’d considered photography as anything more than a hobby. I was drawn in by the stories on her blog, then by her work and finally her voice.

I have learned more about the field of photography, and MYSELF, in the past eight weeks than I have in any class, workshop or tutorial I’ve taken in the past three years.

As a result I’ve once again restarted building my portfolio, to show the beautiful photos I can offer you. While I will NEVER stop shooting boudoir, I think ALL WOMEN should be able to show their photos to everyone, including their grandma. So I’ve graduated to Contemporary Glamour Photography.

What is Contemporary Glamour Photography?

My session with MsP was one that we’d talked about and made tentative plans for, but one day we said “NO MORE- we’re doing it!” And we did.

MsP was amazing – she is a hairdresser and a makeup artist, so I knew she’d come in hot for the session we’d decided on.
